Natal Português

Natal é a capital do estado do Rio Grande do Norte no Nordeste do Brasil e possui cerca de um milhão de habitantes. Encontra-se na entrada do Rio Potengi ao Oceano Atlântico, 550 quilômetros ao sudoeste de Fortaleza, 290 quilômetros ao norte de Recife. Tudo iniciou quando o governador português Francisco de Sousa solicitou em 1597 a expulsão dos piratas franceses e da com eles aliada tribo dos Índios Potiguares. Um ano depois, em 1598, Jerônimo de Albuquerque Maranhão deu início à construção de um forte que recebeu o nome de Forte dos Reis Magos. Ao redor do forte, colonizadores portuguêses fundaram a cidade em 1599. E porque tudo aconteceu no dia de natal, o nome "Natal" foi escolhido, a “cidade do festa Natal”. Entre 1633 e 1654 Natal ficou sob a regência holandêsa. Esta teve fim com a "Gera dos Bárbaros", a maior rebelião de nativos que o Brasil até então tinha visto.

Imagens sinfônicas

Estas imagens sinfônicas querem ser auto-suficientes, sem necessidade de palavras. A música completa a mensagem da fotografia e prolonga ao mesmo tempo o momento de observação. Dependendo da percepção de cada um, ela pode ser o fundo musical, pode aprofundar ou também reinterpretar. Como para mim também acontece na arte da fotografia, no processo de entonação eu me sinto na responsabilidade pelo momento. Se no devido instante não esta sendo usado um gravador, meus sons são de curta duração, no momento de sua criação já estão se apagando, porque anotações eu não faço. Não vejo possibilidade para isto. A partir do momento que a inspiração se bota em movimento e convida para ir com ela deve-se aceitar e viajar. De certa forma o encontro das notas acontece automaticamente, assim também o jogo nas teclas. Uma comunicação inexplicável acontece entre cabeça e mãos, que sucede ou desaba, possivelmente no último momento. Uma experiência muito próxima, se ela da certo. Tão próxima que às vezes penso: “pessoal demais”? Mas afinal, existe um “pessoal demais” na música? Ao mesmo tempo esta atmosfera me dá uma certa leveza, me tranquiliza, um médium que comunica através de emoções e se retira de mal entendidos verbais. Uma especialidade útil, que se manifesta desde que a música existe.

Perspectivas Natalenses

Minha primeira visita a Natal foi em 1998. Após uma doação dedicada por um dos meus projetos escolares, fui convidado pela psicóloga brasileira Dilma Felizardo para conhecer a sua nova instituição de apoio Casa Renascer em Natal. Nesta meninas e jovens mulheres em situação de risco encontraram apoio, com possibilidades gratuitas na área medicinal, escolar, oficinas criativas e esporte. Isto me impressionou muito e desenvolveu o desejo em mim de voltar logo com um projeto próprio de animação musical. Deu certo somente dois anos depois, em 2000. Foi principalmente a pedagoga Maria Ednalva Paulo que possibilitou a realização do projeto por várias semanas com estas jovens em Natal. Nós produzimos séries de fotografias, desenhos, trabalhos biográficos, lírica, trabalhos musicais, para mais tarde produzir o CD Ó Casa Renascer, continue garantindo nossos sonhos!. A proposta pode ser realizada com o apoio do Estúdio de Sons Baumgartner em Linz e assim ser entregue para todos os participantes em Natal. Em 2004 o projeto Garotas de Natal foi aprovado. Desta vez se realizara o preparo de várias semanas de uma apresentação em palco, se focando em um grupo de jovens mulheres, que se distinguem por um interesse musical especial e que por sua vez já assumiram responsabilidades educacionais para outros mais jovens. A fase deste projeto caiu na época muito abafada e chuvosa dos meses de julho e agosto, o que fez o trabalho se tornar muito cansativo. Mesmo assim uma apresentação em público foi realizada, que teve apresentações instrumentais e vocais, cenas dramáticas, amostras em alemão, uma dança folclórica da Áustria, uma apresentação de capoeira, a estréia da composição do projeto Anjos de Natal, assim como valsas de Viena e a música do público Garota de Ipanema. Os participantes receberam aplausos emocionais e uma reportagem fotográfica no jornal da cidade. Para encurtar os meus intervalos de visitas, viajei no ano seguinte por iniciativa própria à Natal. Em 10 dias desta vez pode ser realizado um vídeo clipe de cerca de quatro minutos, que apresentou mais de perto três participantes do projeto do ano anterior. Assim as atrizes tiveram a possibilidade de fazer uma experiência com o médio filme. No ano 2008 houve duas visitas. Ambas tinham o fim de juntar material para a apresentação desta atual página na internet. Dilma Felizardo tinha providenciado o contato com 11 Women Leaders (Mulheres Líderes) Brasileiras, através do seu novo campo de atuação como coordenadora de IBEPIS, uma organização não governamental para fornecer apoio em questões de saúde. Ednalva Paulo e Doerthe Rocha de Lima possibilitaram o meu encontro com os moradores do Espaço Solidário, um lar para idosos no Centro Sócio Pastoral do bairro de Mãe Luíza. Sem rodeios os nomeei como os meus "Anjos de Natal". Com "Natal Angels Brazil" eu tenho intitulado o projeto em 2014. Para este efeito eu trouxe dez camisetas para Natal. Estes foram impressos com rimas em inglês: "What a goal to save a soul - Choose oh boy another toy - Tough enough for true love ...". A idéia foi conectado com a Copa 2014 e consistia de ações na praia e na cidade de Natal. Sob a direção de Maria Monicléa Pereira de Paiva meninas de Natal se apresentavam como "Natal Anjos" entre os turistas para promover a interação respeitosa com os jovens de Brasil. - Neste sentido, eu espero que essa cooperação crescido continuamente não termina com este projeto e Natal abre novas perspectivas.

Natal ist die Hauptstadt des Bundesstaates Rio Grande do Norte im Nordosten von Brasilien und hat rund 1 Million Einwohner. Sie liegt an der Atlantik-Mündung des Flusses Potengi, 550 km südöstlich von Fortaleza, 290 km nördlich von Recife. Ihre Gründungsgeschichte begann, als 1597 der portugiesische Gouverneur Francisco de Sousa die Vertreibung französischer Piraten und des mit ihnen verbündeten Indianerstammes der Potiguares veranlasste. Ein Jahr später,1598, nahm Jerônimo de Albuquerque Maranhão den Bau eines Forts in Angriff, das die Bezeichnung Forte dos Reis Magos, "Fort der Heiligen drei Könige", erhielt. Rund um diese Festung erfolgte 1599 schließlich die Stadtgründung durch portugiesische Kolonialherren. Weil dies am Weihnachtstag geschah, wurde "Natal" als Name gewählt, die "Weihnachtsstadt". Zwischen 1633 und 1654 fiel Natal unter holländische Regentschaft. Diese endete mit der "Guerra dos Barbaros", dem größten Eingeborenenaufstand, den Brasilien je erlebt hatte.

Tönende Bilder

Diese Tonbilder möchten ohne Worte auskommen. Musik ergänzt in ihnen die Fotoaussage und verlängert gleichzeitig den Betrachtungsmoment. Je nach Empfinden kann sie untermalend, vertiefend oder auch umdeutend ausfallen. Ähnlich wie in der Fotokunst fühl ich mich auch im Vertonungsvorgang dem Augenblick verpflichtet. Das bedeutet: läuft gerade kein Aufnahmegerät mit, sind meine Klänge kurzlebig, im Moment ihres Schaffens auch schon wieder am Erlöschen, denn Aufzeichnungen führe ich nicht. Ich sehe keine Möglichkeit dazu. Sobald sich ein Inspirationsfluss in Bewegung gesetzt und zur Mitreise eingeladen hat, heißt es Annehmen und Mitreisen. Die Tonfindung verselbstständigt sich dabei in gewisser Hinsicht, ebenso das Tastenspiel. Eine kaum nachvollziehbare Kommunikation zwischen Kopf und Händen entsteht, die gelingt oder auch abstürzt - womöglich im letzten Augenblick. Ein sehr "nahes" Erlebnis, wenn es im Zusammenhang mit Personen gelingt. So nah, dass ich mir hin und wieder "zu persönlich?" denke. Aber gibt es ein "zu persönlich" in der Musik überhaupt? Zugleich empfinde ich die Atmosphäre erleichternd, beruhigend - als ein Medium, das über die Gefühlsebene kommuniziert und sich verbalen Missverständlichkeiten entzieht. Eine nützbare Besonderheit, die sich seit Musikurzeiten offenbart.

Weihnachtliche Perspektiven

Mein erster Besuch in Natal fand 1998 statt. Nach einer Spendenwidmung aus meinen Linzer Schulprojekten lud mich die brasilianische Psychologin Dilma Felizardo ein ihre neue Fürsorge-Institution Casa Renascer, "Haus der Wiedergeburt", in Natal kennenzulernen. Dort wurden Mädchen und Frauen aus Risikobereichen betreut und mit kostenlosen Angeboten, die von medizinischer Versorgung über Allgemeinbildung bis zu musischen Kreativworkhops und Sport reichten, gefördert. Das beeindruckte mich und erweckte den Wunsch bald einmal mit einem eigenen musischen Animationsangebot wiederzukehren. Es gelang erst zwei Jahre später, im Jahr 2000. Dabei war es besonders der Pädagogin Maria Ednalva Paulo zu verdanken, dass ich mehrere Wochen im Kreis der Jugendlichen von Natal projektieren konnte. Wir erstellten Fotoserien, Zeichnungen, Biografisches, Lyrisches, Musikalisches, um daraus die CD O Casa Renascer, bleibe der Hort meiner Träume zu fertigen. Das Vorhaben konnte mit Hilfe des Linzer Tonstudios Baumgartner verwirklicht und allen Mitwirkenden in Natal übermittelt werden. Im Jahr 2004 wurde mir das Projekt Garotas de Natal - Mädchen aus Natal bewilligt. Es sollte diesmal die mehrwöchige Vorbereitung eines Bühnenauftritts beeinhalten und sich auf eine Gruppe von jungen Damen beschränken, die sich einerseits durch besonderes musisches Interesse auszeichneten, andrerseits schon begonnen hatten selbst Erziehungsaufgaben für Jüngere zu übernehmen. Da diese Projektphase in die schwülen regnerischen Monate Juli, August fiel, gestaltete sie sich äußerst anstrengend. Trotzdem gelang schließlich eine öffentliche Veranstaltung, die instrumentale und vokale Beiträge, Spielszenen, erlernte Kostproben auf Deutsch, einen österreichischen Volkstanz, eine brasilianischen Capoeira-Darbietung, die Uraufführung der Projektkomposition Natal Engel, sowie Wienerwalzertanzen und Garota de Ipanema als Publikumslied enthielt. Die Ausführenden ernteten emotionalen Applaus und einen Bildbericht in der Lokalzeitung. Um meine Besuchsintervalle zu kürzen, reiste ich im Folgejahr, 2005, in Eigeninitiative nach Natal. Innerhalb von 10 Tagen konnte diesmal ein etwa 4-minütiger Video-Clip entstehen, der drei Mitwirkende des Vorjahresprojekts näher vorstellte. Damit hatten die Darstellerinnen die Möglichkeit erhalten sich auch im Filmmedium zu versuchen. Ins Jahr 2008 fielen gleich zwei Besuche. Beide dienten dem Zweck das Material für die Präsentationen dieser aktuellen Internetseite zu sammeln. Dilma Felizardo hatte über ihr neues Betätigungsfeld als Leiterin von IBEPIS, einer brasilienweiten NGO für gesundheitliche Versorgungsbelange, den Kontakt zu 11 brasilianischen Women Leaders vermittelt. Ednalva Paulo und Dörthe Rocha de Lima wiederum ermöglichten mir das Zusammentreffen mit den Bewohnern des Espaço Solidário, einer Altenfürsorge im Centro Sócio Pastoral des Stadtbezirks Mãe Luíza. Diese hab ich kurzerhand zu meinen "Natal Engeln" ernannt. Mit "Natal Angels Brazil" habe ich das Projekt 2014 betitelt. Ich hatte dafür zehn T-Shirts im Gepäck, die mit englischen Slogans bedruckt waren: "What a goal to save a soul - Choose oh boy another toy - Tough enough for true love ...". Die Idee stand im Zusammenhang mit der in Brasilien stattfindenden Fußballweltmeisterschaft 2014 und hatte Strand- und Stadtaktionen in Natal zum Ziel. Unter der Leitung von Maria Monicléa Pereira de Paiva präsentierten sich Mädchen aus Natal als "Natal Angels", um unter den Touristen für respektvollen Umgang mit Brasiliens Jugend zu werben. - Bleibt als Wunsch an die Weihnachtsstadt, es möge sich damit diese kontinuierlich gewachsene Zusammenarbeit nicht vollendet haben sondern in weiteren Projekten fortsetzen.

Natal English

Natal is the capital of the federal-state of Rio Grande do Norte in the North-East of Brazil and has about 1 million inhabitants. It is situated where the River Potengi flows into the Atlantic Ocean in a distance of 550 kms from Fortaleza in the North and 290 kms from Recife in the South. Its history of foundation started when the Portuguese Governor Francisco de Sousa caused the expulsion of French pirates and the confederated Indian tribe of the Potiguares in 1597. In the following year 1598 Jerônimo de Albuquerque Maranhão started to build up a Fort which was named Forte dos Reis Magos, Fort of the "Three Magic Kings". Close to this fortress at least Portuguese colonial representatives founded the town in 1599. As it happened on Christmas Day the name of "Natal" was chosen, "Christmas-Town". From 1633 to 1654 Natal fell under Dutch regency which was ended by the "Guerra dos Barbaros", the greatest rebellion of natives Brazil ever had.

Sounding Pictures

These sound-foto-combinations want to come out without words. Music completes the foto-expression and at the same time lengthens the moment of watching. It is up to your personal perception if you find this accompanying, deepening or altering. Similar to the situation when I´m taking a foto I have to work with the moment´s input also in musical belongings. That means: if no recorder is running my sounds are of short existence and in the moment of creation simultaneously beginning to die away. It´s on account of my missing notation for which I see no possibility. As soon as the flow of intuition has started and invited to follow I have to accept and join in travelling. The act of composing as well as the finger´s key-play get independent in certain ways and follow more an automatic reaction than conscious impulses. A communication between head and fingers starts which hardly can be explained. Either with the option to succed or to fail - possibly at the last moment. A very intensive moment if it works in connection with persons. So intensive that I sometimes ask if it´s too personal. But does "too personal" in music generally exist? At the same time I feel the atmosphere as lightening, calming - as a medium which communicates emotionally and evades any verbal misunderstandings. A useful speciality known since the very beginnings of music.

Christmas perspectives

My first visit in Natal happened 1998. After the dedication of some benefit-money which came from various school-projects in Linz/Austria I was invited by Brazilian psychologist Dilma Felizardo to see her new welfare-institution Casa Renascer, "House of Rebirth", in Natal. There they took care of girls and women in situations of risk and provided them with offers in medical assistance, general education, musical creative workshops and sports. This impressed me and made me wish to return soon with own offers of musical animation. But it took 2 years till my wish could be realized in 2000. Then it was the merit of pedagog Maria Ednalva Paulo that I could stay and project with a lot of kids for several weeks in Natal. We produced foto-series, drawings, biographical essays, lyrics and musical scenes to compose the CD called O Casa Renascer, remain the refuge of our dreams. This idea could be realized with the assistance of Studio Baumgartner Linz and at least sent to all the Brazilian participants. In 2004 Garotas de Natal - Girls from Natal followed. This time the conception was to organize a workshop which finally should lead into a live public stage-performance and feature a group of young ladies who showed special interests in musical acting on one hand, on the other already work as young educators for kids in need. As this course was settled during the sultry and rainy months of July and August the efforts became rather challenging. Nevertheless we managed the public event which consisted of instrumental and vocal elements, scenic plays, some recitations in German, an Austrian folk-dance, a Brazilian Capoeira-demonstration, the first performance of our project-song Natal Angels as well as dancing a Viennese valse and Garota de Ipanema sung by the audience. The actors were honored by emotional applause and by a foto-report in the local newspaper. To shorten the pause between my visits in Natal a private trip followed in 2005. Within 10 days it was able to produce a video-clip of 4 minutes with three of the last project girls. With the result that they earned a little sum of money and had the opportunity to gain some experience in the film-medium. 2008 I visited Natal twice. Both stays had been arranged to collect the material for the presentations of this actual site. Dilma Felizardo who had changed her job to found IBEPIS - a NGO for health-care and research - organized the meeting with 11 Brazilian Women Leaders. Ednalva Paulo and Doerthe Rocha de Lima led me to the inhabitants of the Espaço Solidário which is a part of the Centro Sócio Pastoral and taking care of old people of the Natal district Mãe Luíza. I decided to name them my "Natal Angels". "Natal Angels Brazil" has been the title of my project 2014. I brought ten T-Shirts to Natal showing English slogans like "What a goal to save a soul - Choose oh boy another toy - Tough enough for true love ... ". This idea was in connection with the Brazilian Soccer World Cup 2014 and led to beach and city actions in Natal. Under the leading of Maria Monicléa Pereira de Paiva girls from Natal presented themselves as "Natal Angels" among the tourists in order to call for an appreciative attitude towards the youth of Brazil. - So I hope Natal will not end this continuously grown cooperation but hear my wish and open further perspectives.
